DOE-STD-3022-98, DOE HEPA Filter Test Program

Functional areas: High Efficiency Particulate Air Filter, Performance Assurance
This standard establishes essential elements of a Department of Energy (DOE) program for testing HEPA filters to be installed in DOE nuclear facilities or used in DOE contracted activities. A key element is the testing of HEPA filters for performance at a DOE Filter Test Facility (FTF) prior to installation. Other key elements are (1) providing for a DOE HEPA filter procurement program, and (2) verifying that HEPA filters to be installed in nuclear facilities appear on a “Qualified Products List" (QPL). Canceled by DOE-STD-3025-2007.

    Invoked Standard: No
Reason Canceled: In 2005 DOE privatized its quality assurance inspection and testing of HEPA filters and now contracts for these services. DOE no longer owns and operates a HEPA filter testing facility. The Standards working group reviewed the subject standard and determined that DOE-STD-3022-98 addresses filter test facility (FTF) operations including services to be provided and other aspects of inspection and testing which are now covered in DOE-STD-3025-2007.
